Matthew Carner
Matthew Carner, my big little brother was a special person. He wasn't very tall but he had a big heart and a big voice. Since childhood he looked for a mentor and model. Whether it was J.W. or yours truly, Matthew was determined to better himself. He had a love for good music including; jazz, gospel or soul. His jazz favorites were Herbie Hancock, Bob James, and Quincy Jones. He loved Luther Vandross and the Temptations. As for gospel music, he loved the Oneal Twins but James Cleveland was his favorite singer and he could sing James Cleveland like James Cleveland.
Matthew was intent on having a good career. After graduating from high school, he attended Macon Technical college and received his diploma in Data Processing. His career in Data Processing began a Georgia Bank where he operated the mainframe for the bank. He was later promoted to lead systems operator. Later in his career, Georgia Bank consolidated their computer operations with a headquarters bank and Matthew was assigned as a Student Loan Coordinator and was in charge of collecting delinquent student loans. His first love was Information Technology and needless to say he was not happy. So he resigned to find a job in what he loved best.
Since resigning, he held positions at the United States Postal Service and was later employed as an accountant and stock manager for a local chain store.
